Due to recent blacklisting of an IP range and subsequent mail problems I'm thinking of buying my own IP address.

Does anyone know where and how I can buy an IP address or number of IP addresses?

.. Also... without my own server does anyone know the best place to host and integrate my IP address(es) to a domain(s).

Any help much appreciated!

Hope this is the right category for this post... thought it most relevant!

You can buy IPv4 blocks from various marketplaces, best to research whats best for you though and whether its worth it, you'd expect to pay at least $2000 for small IP blocks now.

You would be much better off becoming a member of RIPE ( 2000 Euro sign up + 800 EUR per year ) which will then give you a one off /22 block of IPV4 addresses and as many IPv6 as you want.

This is of course if you wanted the IP tag to be completely personalised. Depending on your usage and needs you might be better off just renting a dedicated server which has a good amount of IP blocks attached to it as apart of the service........but that doesnt give you that personalised association ( which most don't care about )

Long story short, its going to cost you unless you find someone willing to sell you a small amount.......if you find that im sure there are plenty of people who would like to also buy small allocations.

P.s a /22 block is 1024 IP addresses from RIPE membership, you'll probably find in the public you'd pay £1000 - 2000 for a /24 block ( Which is 256 IP addresses ) anything smaller is like rocking horse shite for people willing to sell because its not worth their bother unless the quantity is there.

If its just a single IP or two you need, most hosting companies will sell and add one to your hosting account for around £10-15 per year (been a few years since I paid separately, its now included in my package, so maybe a bit more now)

So your question maybe better rephrased as "shared hosting companies which offer dedicated ip's", I say shared because you said you don't want your own server, but say you do want a host?

Cheapest option is to ask your current host for a dedicated IP, will usually be somewhere between £1 & £5 per month otherwise you'll need to buy a block and IPv4 addresses are in very short supply these days AND you'll need to organise routing and management of your IP block which again will cost lots.

Thanks for the responses guys.... some food for thought..

and I think yes... probably renting from an ISP will be the best route...

So if anyone does know the best place... and cheapest... with a 'fresh unused' IP address for me to rent... let me know!

Heart don't do it... I know Newnet used to.. £10 a year with a small set up charge... I'll do some investigating.

Thanks again chaps.. I can always rely on Acorn Members for the best information!

Webhosting Buzz do a Positive SSL + Dedicated IP for about £30 a year. It were a while ago I asked, so worth checking again.
