Okay so started working on a small project and need to figure out which user has purchased a product from amazon using my links.

I was hoping there would be a way to add in parameters to amazon links like [email protected] but there doesn't seem to be a way.

I'm sure cashback sites would need to do something similar to track who bought what!

Anyone able to think of a nice way of doing this?

I asked Amazon Associates the exact same question for something I was considering building last year. I wanted to do cash back and also wondered how refunds worked if I took cash back and then sent the product back etc. All I got from Amazon were canned responses so if you do find anything out I'd like to know also. From their last reply, it would seem impossible to append vars for local tracking but obviously it is possible given that cash back sites utilise this very method -

"Regarding your query appending links:

I'm sorry to say that you will not be able to append the links.

As you are aware, our Associates Programme is based on special links which redirect customers to our website. If all links are installed correctly, the orders are automatically assigned to your Associates ID.

However, I also like to inform that you will not be able to track orders (information other than items ordered)as that would interfere with another customer details.

Please know that for security purposes, we will not be able to give you specific details about the status of any order."

Thanks for that, from what I've seen so far it looks like only huge affiliates are able to do something like this.

Just trying to think of a work around but starting to think there isn't one.
