Hi chaps,
have about 20 or so domains over at 1&1.
never use sitye tbh as don't like 1 &1. regged ages ago
want to cancel auto renewal on a few upcoming renewals.
How do you do it at 1&1?
They auto renew which is quite annoying. Can't seem to find anywhere on their site which tells you how to do it?
Anyone know an easy way?
Thanks
Pred :-D

It's a tricky process, they make it as difficult as possible IMO

They autorenewed some of mine but the card on file had expired, so they got debt collectors on to me....Great Customer service!;)

This is the official blurb they sent me :

go to http://contract.oneandone.co.uk and log in with yourcustomer id and password, when you are within here select the packagethat you would like to close, or contains the domain name to close, andthen follow the on screen steps. At the end of the process you will receive an e-mail to the addresssupplied on your control panel containing a specific website link. Ifyou do not receive an e-mail with this special cancellation confirmationlink, please contact our expert Support Team at [email protected]. To activate your cancellation request and complete the process you mustfollow the link e-mailed to you.

I have one remaining domain with them. Same thing happened to with the expired card scenario. I just ignored their letters and it appears they gave up. They renew the domain for me every two years at no cost to me so can't complain ;-)

It may be best in this scenario to go through Nominet and do a forced tag change request. Costs a tenner but at least you're free of them and I bet it would take at least a tenner of your time to get this done with 1&1 regardless of what it says on their site.

thanks demchovsky! appreciate help. some green ones added

I stopped 1&1 auto-renewing my domains by moving all my business to names.co.uk. Costs me more but I don't regret it al all. Now all my domains are available 24x7 which wasn't the case with 1&1 and if I have an issue I call support and someone actually answers the phone but more than that, they care about my problem.

Sorry, this is not exactly the answer you're looking for...
