Nothing is being done to stop it happening again because for those involved it was a roaring success. I should think plans are afoot to do it again and again, because people didn't so much as turn out on the streets to protest at being robbed out of £10,000s each. With such little resistence of course the crooks will do it again. It's the easiest £billions they've ever made.

Since the funny-money debt the countries of the world have been landed was created out of thin air by banks using fractional reserve lending, the solution is obvious. The government could create an equal amount of funds out of thin air itself and pay it off. But therein lies the deception. When it comes to banks and the elite, money can be magic'd out of nothing. But when it comes to the public, that option is conveniently forgotten, and instead millions of people are expected to work for years to pay off the debt, meanwhile compound interest is accumulating on it every day.

My main criticism of Inside Job is that it focuses too much on inadequate regulation as the cause of the crisis while not questioning the way the entire financial system itself is organized. It seems to be designed for huge periodic arbitrary distributions of wealth to the elites, and this won't change as long as we have a central bank that can create money out of thin air.

I am not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but it is staggering to see the people in charge of the financial system be so incredibly incompetent in such a way that defies belief, and then not suffer any adverse consequences for their careers. Highlighted very well in Inside Job, this leads me to think that this heist was more coordinated than I previously thought.

The auditors have seemingly got away Scot free on this. Part of what their 7 and 8 figure fees are for is verifying the assets of the company. Instead they have been taking the word of the banks as to the value. Doesn't happen in the 'real' world - got to take a physical stock take. People had been buying shares in these banks based on the company's valuations, which are themselves based on the audited figures.

the financial system is not really capatilism, and I find it hard to defend it in any way. it feels rather like a rigged casino where the house makes all the money at the expense of the punters and when those punters fight back, the rules are changes and membership cards are revoked.

just about every cost of the crisis is coming back in taxes to haunt us. it is transfer of wealth from the poor to the wealthy. after all, you cannot actually tax the rich because they can avoid it, but the poor cannot. so it's the most vulnerable people who end up paying. say goodbye to the middle class, you'll be poor, broke and poorer.....

i'm wondering when/if the people are going to rise up and over throw the system? those in the know, seem to know how best the system works are are brilliant at manipulating for the benefit of themselves. films like this make we question the UK with its overreliance on the financial sector, compared to say other european countries like germany.

I'm also wondering the same thing talked to a lot of friends about this film almost non are really interested in watching it though, So will there ever be an uprising I fear not.
Even with cost of everything rising and tens of thousands loosing there jobs the vast majority in this country still have a relatively comfortable life so don’t want to question what’s going on.

What a difference 22 miles makes...in France they go on the warpath at the drop of a hat.

Yep that is true. I wonder if people have bought into the image that they too will be mega rich one day, like the american dream and hence don't question things enough because they live in hope that one day it might happen to them. Could we blame the media here?

I'm a capitalist, and proud of it. I support the creation of products, wealth and jobs and to make society and the world a better place. However we do not have this, we have a rigged system, with the politicians, bankers and wealth owners conspiring to keep the status quo.

I love supporting the little guy and in a small way helping make sure that we all have the choice before we end up with more and more of the numerous cartells that run the planet. At least in some european countries there is more sense of community and a focus on what matters: not the latest mobile phone, but things like people.

...rant over....

I no this might sound like a defeatist stance; since the creation of paper money we (general public) have lost out ability to realy change things. Therefore politician can talk all they want they too are in the pocket of the banks becaue they too need money from the bankers to run their campaign.

Bankers run this planet and control us as long as we need to buy and sell.

Is there a way out, personally yes but globally NO!

I'm starting to wonder if this whole bailout thing was just a stalling tactic so the elite can shift all there ill gotten cash into other assets. The system seems so rotten its only a matter of time until it crumbles.
Am I the only one who wonders why you can't open a newspaper without seeing yet another ad about we want to buy your gold who's buying all this gold for what reason?

Gold is just another speculative asset. It's only of interest because other people want it. The greater fool effect so to speak in action. It could be anything else, from dot com stocks to houses. I'm not that excited about gold as it doesn't pay me anything to hold it....so it really is just pure play "greater fool". I'm waiting for it all to come down, starting with gold.

Gold is another joke. I had a conversation with a work colleague who said he was moving from cash to buying gold.

After talking to him I realised that it was the same as paper money - you get a certificate saying that you have a piece of gold in a vault some where in the world.

I agree with disruptive, Gold is just another trading commodity.

You can buy physical gold and there are places where you can store it. I have heard rumours that some of the financial institutions offering to easy ways to invest in gold where you never see it and it's stored for you somewhere have been naughty, but have been playing the fractional reserve game with gold so a lot more gold has been 'sold' via promisory notes than actually exists in the vault!

Very loud alarm bells started to ring last year when one major gold investor was refuseddelivery of his own gold by his bank and had to get his lawyers involved.

Watched 'Inside Job' last night, have seen things before like this but think this one was a bit better as they managed to speak to key people.. some say it's linked to the illuminati/freemasons and all part of their plan to create a global economy where the bankers run the world through government,... absolutely insane!!

The so called NWO or new world order. I'm not one for consipracies, but you have to wonder sometimes. The point at which things concerns me is when the $benefit_my_death > $benefit_being_alive, and right now it seems, we are worth more alive, but with increasing population, I really do worry.
