Is my domain penalised?

Bought a domain recently off a catcher - it looks like the domain was caught in 2008 and only a Sedo type parking page has been up since then (Archive.org history only shows a blank page in 2006 with no content visible).

Since I bought it a couple of months ago, it's now got just a simple logo showing and is indexed in Google with a recently cached page.

However, this can only be seen by doing a site:domain.co.uk search. Searching for just www.domain.co.uk or domain.co.uk does not show it anywhere.

Doesn't look like an active website has ever been on it, as there doesn't look to have been any link building done (checking through Google / Site Explorer).

Anyone experienced anything similar? All other domains I have done the same with before always rank position one for just a www.domain.co.uk search. Want to start developing it soon but would rather get it ranking properly first before spending loads of time on it

I experience this with quite a few of my "thin affiliate" sites, not too bothered as i dont put much time into them (just feed a csv into them) some dissapear for 1-2 months then come back with 15 to 20 uniques a day for 1- 2 months, generally the ones with content dont do it and stay up there.

How odd - it had been like this for weeks but just checked again today and it's normal as it should be... very strange

you'll probably want to submit a site reconsideration request via webmaster tools once the site is ready.
