Anyone got experience of Joomla ?? Its a GPL php script i've come across which i think has potential for sites needing development.

ive loaded it up against rugbyclubdirectory.co.uk and had a quick play around.

I don't have much experience with Joomla but from what i do know it has a very nice SEF URL option which allows you to manually set a pages exact URL if required, very handy if your converting an existing site to Joomla.

My only critism of it is i understand its quite hard to get away from the standard Joomla look.

i used joomla wherever i can, you can edit it online (using the admin area)
so no html software is really needed, and no messing about uploading and
downloading themes/modules

I have a couple of dozen sites running Joomla....design custom templates as well. Using a wide variety of components from gigCalender to cusomised property management components. Sign up for the forums at Joomla! or give me a shout if I can help.

By the way its the mutts nuts....especially when it comes to SEF

my joomla examples;

doet.net (nothing special, but shows it can be stripped down)
tikkabilla.co.uk
online-barrister.co.uk

are different joomla examples

Thanks guys, i will take a look when i get a chance.

Joomla seems like its the only one that will allow me to manipulate the URLS how i would want them, otherwise its manual sites for me!

Wait another 10 days for the 1.5 beta to come out and work with that it's quite a major upgrade.

Yup I saw 1.5 in progress a while back and agree its a nice piece of work....very nice, but I am hesitant to use Betas of any kind for client sites. Have had it running for a while locally here though, seems stable enough. My only gripe is there is no upgrade path as such just a migration path so I wouldnt be upgrading existing sites.
