is exact domain searches really work for UK on google.co.uk

Let say a domain have 10,000 exact searches for UK. If you get number 1 spot in google.co.uk , how much traffic you expect.

I need advice on this from experience person, who already have domain on top and have analytics.

Kindly just give answer, if you know what i am talking about.

Thanks.

a lot of factors at play

What portion of that traffic you will get will depend on several factors. Things to consider: Your domain name and the click through rate it will receive (generic domains tend to perform better). How many people are bidding on the term in question through Adwords <-- if it's competitive the CTR on organic can drop considerably. Exact figures are difficult to come by as it is very market dependant but here is some realllllly old leaked AOL data. I can tell you already that i have domains that skew that graph considerably but it's a start for you.

If you have access to Webmaster Tools you can also see CTR data for your keywords.

I did a test & post on this but as Google changes and take more real estate back the numbers vary even if the keyword tool was exact (which it certainly isn't).

No1 spot was around 25-40% of traffic I believe but your mileage may vary, especially if you trigger things like maps, local listing etc. There is no guarantee on the numbers from the keyword tool, they can only be used to help shape ideas along with other data, if in doubt run an adwords campaign to verify the available traffic numbers.

Agree with Scott, you can currently typically expect 25-40% of click throughs at the number one position (this can of course depend on how attractive your website is to click on in the SERPs). As mentioned though the keyword tool isn't completely accurate and is just one tool you should be using for research.

thanks for answers. since google change keyword tool data. Now only giving search figures that happen on google.com google.co.uk etc.. .(not from search partner network) Its really good change from google.

I know about google.com. i get up to 40% CTR, if site is on 1st number.

But i want to confirm, is it same for google.co.uk.

My main concern is. do you guys go with keyword domain according to google keyword for uk region?

I want to buy keyword domain for uk. but i read some where, that we not receive that such traffic from google, that what google claim in keyword tool with exact match. even not close to that ( i see this discussion some UK blogs)

If a keyword have 10,000 exact searches, and if we get 3000 traffic after sites on 1st number. then its good.

if site is on 1st and i get 100 or 50 traffic. then there is problem with google uk keyword or some thing.

what you say?

You could run an Adwords campaign to see the number of impressions the search is getting per month (use an untargeted advert to avoid clicks). I have generally found the keyword tool to be accurate, although have read plenty of stories from others which haven't had the same experience (remember you should be looking at the 'local' column too if you aren't already).

I agree with you. I see that kind of stories on google.com before google update keyword tool. But now i read recently for google uk that people not get that traffic.

Yes i look on local colum for exact searches.

I can say one thing. i check many terms that search only in uk, but in usa that are low searches according to keyword tool. that mean, keyword tool is fine now.

some blog owners from UK, still saying they not getting traffic according keyword tool, mean very low traffic they get that keyword work tool tell.

Looking views from more people on this topics. I hope i will get answers, after all this is UK forum.

read this post from Uk blogger: ( i said UK Blogger bcz domain is .co.uk :))
http://www.malcolmcoles.co.uk/blog/google-adwords-keywords-tool-uk/

I feel this blogger misguide people. however term that he talk about , may be that is case, but overall i feel that UK keyword tool work.

Thanks.
