hmmm honestly not bad .. depends on what your after really, using adsense is a higher risk of course lose one lose all .. kinda thing,

I think linking to a sedo domain isn't too clever either

http://www.curebadbreath.co.uk/2008/05/19/hello-world/ thats a poor show..

you might want to lockdown the usual WordPress holes.

but depends on what you are trying to gain

Thanks - it's not actually a Sedo domain - it's a 123-reg holding page which they seem to redirect to sedo ads. This will have a site on very soon.

The hello world post will be deleted. We are still doing a little bit of refinement.

Adsense isnt the be all and end all. There are tons of other revenue streams we shall be working on.

Using wordpress, it's easy to grow these websites via additional articles or blog type posts.

Just re-read your post - what do you mean by your comment above?

Aren't there millions of websites built using Wordpress? What is your concern?

Thanks
Stephen.

I was running one at badbreaths.com till I let the domain drop. Think the .co.uk is still there. It did really well, made some great adsense last year too. Good niche to get into.

Teeth whitening is a big one too.

You need to do some SEO work, you dont even have any keyword meta tags.

Admin

Just installed the appropriate plugin. Not sure if it really matters though as meta tags are largely ignore by search engines - aren't they. The title tag is automatically there.

From experience these Wordpress sites index really well for SEO purposes and rank well just on the content.

EDIT I mean THIS:

Make sure you have your wordpress SEO work down and put your feeds in feedburner to monitor them.

Also, edit your permalinks to be /postname.html so they are more 'static' looking.

Also, be sure to optimise the titles to be the correct way around. IE, post name at start, site name at end.

wordpress holes.. security is a big issue mainky in the xmlrpc modules, but from an SEO standpoint, you need to get the htaccess to redirect archives, date etc etc or one link will cause dupe content issues..

did you install akismet as well .. ( I would )

@admin

they are meaningless these days, meta description will be used if google can't create a snippet

I don't see <title> has a Meta btw it's very very important

Thanks - yes we are already taking care of the duplicate content issue. The other thing worth remembering is that we are using Wordpress here mainly as a CMS - not as a blog.

By the way - here are a couple more sites -

www.snacks-foods.co.uk
www.holistichealingretreats.co.uk

Again, may need a bit of tidying up.

There is a good SEO plugin for WP - use that.

Set meta tags for every page - anyone who tells you not too is foolish. It's not going to score you major brownie points, but remember there is more than one search engine!

I guess I'm foolish then :) The only time I would bother with them (title is not a meta tag) is if they are generated automatically. Spending time on them is a waste of your time unless you have little or no content on your page.

I disagree...why not put keywords in?

It takes virtually no time to do, and it MAY help your site in certain situations. If you are sensible you certainly won't be penalised for having them, and even if google doesn't use them, they may be relevent for other sources of traffic.

I would always recommend using basic keywords and a description tag.

What I am saying is, there is never enough time in the day to get everything done so you have to use your time wisely, if you are wasting time hand crafting meta tags, your time would be better spent creating more content and getting your title tags right. If you feel the need to do meta tags just do the description forget about keywords.

I am trying to build some mini-sites at the moment and still trying to work with various templates for the best results. I think yours is a good one nice and clear. Is it one thats freely available or one you have hacked yourself ? Would you mind pointing me towards a download or PM me

mm i like the templates on these sites too - they certainly make them look a lot more like websites and a lot less like parking pages!

I would agree on the keywords tag too - a complete waste of time, if you don't already have the keywords you need in your content you should just write more content!

Your time must be incredibly precious if you don't even have a few minutes to type in a few basic site-related keywords...;)
