In light of the huge uptake of SocialMonkee.com I'm interested in what people think about it and although the links it creates have at least 0 pagerank would they risk adding their website to it?

never heard of it, looks crap, just another crappy link service. Spam crap links, that hold no vaule

The fact that their own PageRank is 0 doesn't fill me with much hope.

I've found the best method of finding *valuable* links for free is to do a backlink analysis of competitors' sites and pull out the best sites for guest posting, best directories, and so on.

Then I keep a big list of all the generic pages (e.g. directories) and submit every site I SEO up to them. Been working on a site for the past 6 months that's just gone up from PR6 to 7, so must be doing something right.

Don't mind doing a straight swap via PM, I've got about 60 directories and 40 dofollow blogs listed (blogs are PR3-PR5), so I'll match the numbers on your list

At the moment my list comprises of websites which have good general backlinks from blogs/directories which can be copied (rather than the actual direct links to places), so I'll extract the direct URLs and form a proper list to swap.

I agree with Aaron. Autoplay is ALWAYS terrible ... especially for those viewing a website at work in a gap during their day job.
