Just watched episode 2 of Dragon's Den - probably the highest profile use of the new GTLDs I've seen so far.

domain works well for the site, i think they'd be better off with personalisedbooks (co.uk) though ;)

Didn't see the show. Did they get funding because it's hardly an original idea.

The one question that was not asked was say if the childs name is amy

the book then only consists of three pages.

Yep. 5% for £100k. It's all about the execution - they've got a high quality product. which is already wildly profitable and I bet they do a few hundred k in sales just off the back of the show.

Tried it with a 3 letter name, they've thought of that...

That values the business at £2 million.

Producing a high quality product with today's technology isn't at all difficult. As well as existing competition, the door is now wide open for copycat ventures who see their success, not least from established publishers with well-known children's characters.

Good luck to them though. It's not often someone leaves the Den with a deal that actually benefits them.

These books have been around a very long time...I still have a personalised smarties one which is 35+ years old. (Had to collect 20 Smartie tops to get it.)

I fully expected/hoped new TLD's would die a quick death. However, now I see one on a beautiful website for a 'cool' product I actually think the domain makes the company look innovative & trendy.
