Hello

I recently aquired the domain

makeownwebsite - .co.uk

And was wondering if someone could please provide me some idea of how much it could be worth. I own some other sites as well

aquoteforyou - .com and .co.uk
astampdealer - .com
victoria-stamps - .co.uk
shopforjewellery - .co.uk

and want to put them up for sale here.

Any ideas or help will be very much appreciated.

I have absolutly no experience in selling domains but found a lot of helpful information in these forums.
If I sell them to people from this site I hope they will be able to help me with transferring them, nominet and things like that.

By asking for your kind help in appraising them hopefully they will find a new home with someone who can make full use of them.

I bought the first 4 as I was hoping to do adsense with them and affiliate sites but have now developed a website and need to spend time on that so that is the reason they are going. The makeownwebsite is the first site I have specificaly bought to sell on and so any advice on my attempt with that will be most warmly welcomed.

Thank you for spending the time to read this post and I look forward to your replies, good or bad, at least the constructive criticism will help me in the future. :p

I my opinion you won't sell any of then on this forum as they are all worthless, I doubt any experienced domainer on this forum would even reg them if they were available.

Sorry:(

Hi Fil,

Yes, I agree with denchomsky.

In general, for a domain to have real value it must be memorable and easy to spell - with a scarcity factor too.

So, for example, how many other ways of saying makeownwebsite are there, which are undoubtedly free to register ?

MakeAWebsite, MakeYourWebsite etc.etc. (well ok, they may have been registered and MakeAwebsite ain't bad, but you get my drift !)

Are they memorable ?

However, a name like WebEasy is much more memorable and irreplaceable.

Having said all that, ShopForJewellery may have a little value for a shopping directory site.

All the best with it. What's the name of the site you've developed ?

Cheers.

Steve.

thanks for the replies

it was a short career in domaining by the looks of it :p

the one i am developing is buycosmeticsonline .co .uk
hopefully it will be launched mid next year as its going to be a proper shopping site rather than adsense or affiliate so in the process of doing the seo and stocking it etc ... hence the reason to get rid of the others

I appreciate your help and the gentle let down (everyone knows its not easy to tell a mother shes got an ugly baby )

Oh, I wouldn't say it's an ugly baby.

Just not sure about the Bruce Forsyth look :)

BuyCosmeticsOnline.co.uk is nice. Wish you all the best with it.

Not if you succeed but when !

I say this by no means from a position of great success, but I think there are many different skills to be learnt. Most people just give up if their first baby 'flops', but they just never took the time to acquire the knowledge or skills that come with anything that isn't easy, so failure was inevitable.

Just stick at it and enjoy !

Jeez, I think I've swallowed a self-help manual :)

Hopefully others with more experience on here will be able to advise further.

Cheers.

Thanks steve :)
perhaps this is a better idea then

May well see if an insurance company wants the aquoteforyou names as they would work fantastically with a tv or radio campaign as well as being really easy to remember. Also tells people they are getting a sort of personalised quote specifically for them and not a general quote so it may well be better for a smaller company rather than a big one.

the others i may just keep for a while and see what happens ( had a few clicks on the adsense for the make own website one and thats covered the cost of the domain name for the next 4 years already so that ones covered.)
shopforjewellery may well make a good one for a jewellery directory as suggested so will be a keeper in case i ever get the time to develop it i think.

But again i am sure that some kind people will be able to appraise not only the sites now but the ideas :p

OK, to answer purely from a domaining point of view, and not a development potential point of view:

makeownwebsite - .co.uk - I doubt this gets search traffic and if that's true, it's valueless.

aquoteforyou - .com and .co.uk - Very difficult to sell as too many words and too many ways that it could be typed the wrong way, so brandability value is minimal.

astampdealer - .com - Minimal value as the value to a stamp dealer of buying this would be minimal. Clearly though stampdealer.com would have value.

victoria-stamps - .co.uk - No value, especially with the hyphen.

shopforjewellery - .co.uk - Might have a little value on here if someone likes the look of it. Fine for an affiliate site but it's not that high a quality domain.

Hope that helps.
