Hi All

I have recently put up a Mens Shirts site.

Any feedback on the site very welcome, plus any suggestions for improvement of the site text.

Also welcome, anyone whose shirt collection is looking a little tired and needs to buy new ones. :)

Far too much text on the front page.

You could pretty much have zero text on the front page for a domain like that, just pictures, which goes against the mini-site ethos.

Thanks for your feedback. I like to go text heavy on the home page as I find it helps me rank for unusual keyword combinations.

Two comments:

1. Amount of text on home page is ideal for search engines, this plus number of pages should start start seeing some benefits;

2. If I were looking for mens shirts there's nothing here that would entice me to buy. Need a good mixture of both text and images (seo and usability) - no product images above the fold etc...

Good luck

Out of interest, did the "We've found the best sites for you" graphic on the left hand side catch your eye? Did the list of shirt retailers given not seem useful to you??

I ask because I need to make it easy for the visitor to click on to a retail site, and I'm not sure I'm achieving that at the moment.

Thanks

There is a balance between text on pages for ranking and actually enticing customers to buy once you have them.

The site just does not do it for me.

There are no images
None of the links on the left are deeplinks
You dont need the feedburner
You need to alter the font and colours.

Not really I'm afraid on either account.

I think the image too distracting for the message your trying to achieve. Plus most people start looking for navigation after a few seconds looking at main body content (like a shop window). Don't attract them here and they won't even bother looking at your 'navigation' links.....they'll simply be pressing the back button.

Add more shirt images above the fold - place them like products would be on an ecommerce shop and add the direct links beside them.

Definitely agree with this - more pictures above the fold. Can you find out somehow what are the ten best-selling shirts? ...or brands? ...or seasonal colours/styles? ...then show pics/links to these above the fold. You could always put your text further down the page, below the "Featured Items" pictures, if you want the best of both worlds

Also can you get some stock photos of men's shirts to make a header image?

HTH

Cheers, Jon

I've now added a new section in the body text saying "We've found relevant mens shirt sites for you".

The one thing I want to prevent is the visitor immediately going for the back button, and the one thing I want to achieve is the visitor clicking an affiliate link.
