Wanted: Domain Appraisal Mildenhall.org.uk

Just made the purchase of Mildenhall.org.uk as I thought it would be a good project for the near future, especially as .org.uk are becomming more popular with places.

Mildenhall is a small town with a population of around 9,906 people.

Mildenhall is also well known for its large Raf Air Base.

Do you think this was a good find for a few quid if the site is developed properley ?

It’s ok but just wonder if would ever bring in enough to warrant the cost of development…? It wouldn’t take more than an 30 mins to call every business in the area and see if any were actually interested in placing adds and take it from there?

Maybe try selling to someone with the surname …?

Is mildenhall a popular surname and would the extension .org.uk suit this do you think.

Hi Guys

Just an update, after swaying back and forth I decided to go ahead and build a site on Mildenhall as I have always wanted to do a project on a town and what better than a place just up the road from me.

I still have bits of text to alter on some pages, but the basis of the site is now there. I will be adding more info on a daily basis and am now going to be contacting businesses regarding local listings.

Here is the site link, just so you can see what I have been up to in the last couple of weeks in all my spare time.

I can see why you want to charge shops etc to be listed, but I think that trying to charge Schools, Hospitals, Churches, Firestations etc for a listing in the "Public Services" sections and having those sections empty as a result might come across as a bit grasping to people viewing the site?

Might be better to decide what information you're going to give free and what needs to be charged for? Looks like you've put a lot of work into it though.

Yes Its a busy little town with lots going on, yes they use to have lots of air displays there however I think it all quitened down especially getting onto the air base after 9/11.

Hi Ty many thanks for your comments, no im charging any of the schools, doctors, hospitals, charity shops, churches or anything like that, they are going to be added free of charge, these people will all be written to and given free listings, they will be able to update them themselves using a password to the manage ads section.

I have just added the option so that other businesses can advertise within these catgories, for instance you may get a football coach that would like to advertise in sport & leisure or another business that would like to be added that offers something unique to the general public, im just covering all areas from the beginning.

Starting the marketing today, now that should be fun.

Enjoyed building this site, look likes I will have to find some more geos, now I have design my next site will be a lot easier.

Just updated the look and feel of my mildenhall site. www.mildenhall.org.uk

The homepage still has a few banners to add in for events ect, but it is getting there.

I have reposted in this thread as well as the website reviews as more people and made a post in this thread rather than the other one.
