Can you believe Aiden Roberts has been a domainer for 6 months.

As we are getting to the end of the year and apparently I am obliged to get in the Christmas spirit; which in wife speak means get off that bloody computer. I thought it would be useful to reflect on my first 6 months as a domainer, hopefully any lurkers out there will say "if that idiot can do it" then I can, if so here is my best bit of advice:

Join Acorn

When I started I had no idea what I was doing, hadn't bought names, built sites or understand the lingo but thanks to patient Acorners I have bought and sold names, dropcatched, built minisites on Wordpress, learned basic html and even offered the odd bit of useful advice.

I am now in phase 2 which to me means being more informed when doing all of the above, learning more and applying what I have learned, hopefully this will be my foundation to move forward and get better at being a domainer.

I would like to take this opportunity to:

Thank those who have helped me

Say sorry to those I have annoyed

If I have sold you a name then you probably got a bargain, if I didn't sell you a name then I was probably just being greedy and will live to regret it but most of all I have really enjoyed the interaction; so thanks again ;)

Apart from that I wish you and your loved ones a pleasant, peaceful and happy Christmas and a prosperous 2012.

A very appreciative

You've displayed great professionalism IMO Aiden - your next 12 months will bear plenty of fruit I reckon. Don't want that to sound patronising BTW.

All the best to you and yours...and don't listen to the wife; domains don't sleep!

Nice post Aiden and I'm glad Acorn and it's members helped you on your journey. It will be interesting to see what more you have to say at Christmas next year.

Congrats and best regards

I'd like to say thanks to you Aiden, I'm even newer at this game than yourself, and your posts have been very helpful, especially those questions you have asked which have resulted in some very useful advice from others here on Acorn.

Thanks Aiden!

Scott.

Thanks All

The missus is in bed so I have sneaked on ;)

It has been a great 6 months because I have met some genuinely nice people and I have learned many new skills, I can't think of any other business were people are willing to help you succeed and ask nothing in return and that has been the most humbling experience for me.

I hope during 2012 I am able to give something back by way of useful advice to newbies and interesting comment to seasoned domainers.

Your comments are much appreciated.

All the best for the new year

Aiden
