Hi all,

Thought I should introduce myself to the forum as you/we may have future correspondence/domain sales together and it always helps if there is some background information available.

I've been checking the forum off and on for a relatively short time (a few months) but I have been involved in internet businesses/domain trades for a few years.

In-fact the first domain I bought and sold was in the late 90's - a stock market related domain - via GreatDomains. I invested in a few since then (early 2000) but I didn't develop any of my ideas and they ended up lapsing as I moved onto other interests.

More recently, say 3 years, I have been buying domain names mostly with a purpose of monetising them via affiliate sites and on occasion selling the domain on. Nothing major, a few sales here and there via Sedo, Domain Lore and Go Daddy.

My main interest to begin again was building websites via the wordpress platform and then using seo to get traffic. I was initially doing PPC for a while driving traffic direct to Amazon but they changed the terms and it had to come via a website, hence my domain and web building exploits.

I currently generate income from adsense and amazon mostly but I have promoted products via clickbank, rapbank (digital items) to affiliate window, buy.at, trade doubler and commission junction. I also get income from selling backlinks on domains with page rank.

As well as 100+ UK Domains I have around 50 other ones where I also sell american based products.

My websites were initially based on wordpress but I have been using scripts more recently as they are much easier to set up and require less maintenance. Wordpress is always being updated and plugins don't always match the updates. Anyway, I still like using wordpress but not on a mass scale.

My priority is developing domain names that generate an income whilst I wait for buyers to take them off me for a small/large profit - which I then re-invest in new domains. Mostly as a paying hobby but also for the challenge to source a market, research domain names and then make money from the subsequent websites whilst I sleep )

Anyway, just a quick introduction to myself. I have learnt a lot over the years and will contribute where suitable but I am also looking forward to learning more from those who are more successful and knowledgeable.

Brian

Wow great intro, welcome to Acorn.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your plans. With changes from Google, building affiliate sites that perform has become more challenging, but I hope you see some results from your hobby.

@ accelerator

Yes Google is an ongoing seo challenge. Had plenty of success via Bing though. Thanks for the encouraging comments

Welcome to Acorn, Brian. There's much to learn here, but from your introductory post it seems you'll be doing some teaching too! Always good to have experienced people as part of the forum.

Mike.

Nice intro - The sort of spread of skills I wish I had.

I'm not sure I could have forgiven myself for having some success in the 90's as you mention though then moving-on into other interests (unless they were female)

@ miked

Thanks Mike. I've been away for a few days but will have a look at more posts to see if I can contribute anything useful. I see you have a good selection of domains at http://usefuldomains.co.uk/

@ Bailey

Thanks for the feedback. After initial success I got a job in a new location and got distracted by that.

You mentioned the spread of skills, I'm a bit, 'jack of all trades' I suppose. Google Search and YouTube help along the way.

If you (or anyone else reading this) have any domains that have products on Amazon and need them developing - like this:

UFC Personal Trainer

Send me a PM or email 'DomainMarketing @ Ymail.com' Prices start at just £25 for a similar site - plus discounts the more you get done.

I can host the site on my servers if need be.

Thread about it here too - Amazon Minisites
