Hi guys,

Sorry if its a bit too much self promotion, but thought you may be interested in my story at dnjournal re. developing claims.co.uk at http://www.dnjournal.com/cover/2013/september-october.htm.

I'm hoping it will bring out the .co.uk market into the limelight a little, and highlight the problems with the .uk nominet proposals atm.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the article.

Nice to see an Irish lad doing well, good man.

Now, can I interest you in clams.co.uk ? There's lots of injured dyslexics out there who couldn't read the danger, wet floor signs

Thanks & Good Luck

Thanks for linking to the article, there are lessons and wisdom for all, in your piece.

Good luck with developing 'Claims' to even more success.

Well done John, nice to see a UK'er in DNJ.

And to add, I dealt with John a few years ago. Great guy to deal with and professional beyond his years! Never would have guessed he was such a young whippersnapper ! ;)

Great story. I am based in Belfast as well so give me a shout if you fancy meeting up and discuss domains over a pint.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of keeping the sale private, but as they say "A rising tide lifts all boats"

Systreg: Could make for an interesting side project, lol.

Khalid: Yep, myself and Rob managed to come to a deal on it.

mojoco: Thanks, it was a pleasure doing business with yourself also!

ProDomains: Nice to see a fellow domainer so close! It would be great to meet up and have a chat.

admin: I knew there was something I forgot! Sorry :(

I always find it very interesting/inspiring to hear peoples success stories.

I've been watching a lot of the interviews on domainsherpa.com lately which are great.

A recurring trait of successful entrepreneurs seems to be never resting on your gains and reinvesting.

Thanks for sharing John & good luck with your claims site.

Greatarticle! You've had some great domains and claims is a top one!

Congrats on a great story. But let's face it, you could have got the same result using any 'good'/branded claims related domain serp results aside, on that note I wonder if this will just end up as another 'underwear' (no offence Frank you milked it for all it was worth v.well)

I'm just not sure.. about it.

so... until the next black and white animal update :)

Glad you enjoyed the article Julian!

We'll agree to disagree on the value of such a name though (of course I would say that though ;) ). I owned a lot of brandable developed sites in the claims niche before purchasing claims.co.uk. I've found since developing claims.co.uk that the extra authority of a leading domain mean provides better conversion rates (all things being equal) and better click through rates (and so cheaper per click), never mind the extra PR and the doors it opens. Check out the study another domainer conducted that is linked to from the article.

With a single click costing up to £100 (for something like no win no fee accident claim), that kind of advantage can add up pretty quickly.

I do agree with you that it doesn't prove an advantage in not getting hit by any google 'black and white animal updates', but by the same token I don't think having a brandable name means you are less likely to get hit by a panda/penguin/zebra update.
