I've been a member here for two months now. Prior to that, I didn't even know what a domain name was. But through persistence, curiosity and many nights staying up reading until work o'clock the next morning, I've learnt so much that I'm in the process of becoming my own boss and messing around on the internet to earn my wage and feed the family!

Much as I've learnt in these two months, I'm happy to admit that I'm still a complete noob and won't be offering domain advice to anyone in the near future..... What may be of use to some of you however, is my opinion on your current sales pitch and how I might tweak it if I were the seller.

I have been involved in sales my whole working life (13 years) and as a way of saying thanks to everyone on here (whether we've spoken or not) for contributing to this brilliant community, I'm offering my personal insight to any members who PM me with their sales pitch/technique. If it's not obvious already, this is a freebie and just to make it even clearer, it's available to all members.

Feel free to comment in this thread but please send all requests for this by PM.

Thanks everyone, for everything!
Billy - real name Richard, I get called both and even Bill by some so take your pick

Hi Richard,

That is kind of you to offer your services in any way you can and I'm sure one or two may well take you up on your offer. However, the nature and range of the type of enquiries for domains tends to lend it self to a more 'tailored' approach when it comes to replying imho.

Most choose to list their domains for sale so that initiates the standard - "How much" email request. Those with a bit of savvy will include a short justification or outline to the arrived at Price.

Those of us that don't list domains have a little bit more room to manoeuve as it's the potential buyer initiating a cold contact.

If you have some general guidlines that you feel may be helpful then by all means list those here in a Thread - i'm sure that would be more helpful and appreciated

Cheers Ray

Thanks for your comments Ray,

Good call on composing a general guidelines thread, I'll have a look at doing something like that in the not too distant future.

If I'm being honest though I think the rest of your post is pretty pointless! You've seriously undervalued what I'm offering here which is your choice to make, but please tell me what value you, I or any members get from your gloomy (and massively inaccuarate) summary based entirely on you having no idea what my "approach" actually is?

Anyhoo, due to the enquiries I've already had, I'm putting a time limit of 2 weeks on this offer which takes us up to Tuesday 25th October.

A note to the interested

I've got a fair few projects on the go at the moment and I'm still learning how to juggle them all so please bear with me and I will get back to you all!

Thanks again for all help and advice,
Billy

P.S. Anything sent in private, stays private. I've worked in the archiving/document management industry for the past 4 years and have the utmost respect for anything that contains personal information and/or intellectual property.

Running a bit behind, thanks for your patience

Just an update to everyone who's PM'd me. I've been busier than I thought with this and other projects and have fell behind in replying to everyone.

Probably be up to date by the middle of next week.

Thanks
