mysql - auto generating categories?

I have got about 5,000 categories to add to a database. Are there any tools to help me, or is it simply a matter of getting the old cut and paste fingers out?

If you have the data in .csv or .xml, you can import the data into MySql. I use Premiumsoft Navicat, but expect other MySql admin packages can do it too.
