Hi folks,

Does anyone have any experience with using Sedo as a broker for domain acquisition? Do you think it's worth the 49 bucks they're asking?

My concerns are that there may be a risk of over-exciting a domain seller by employing a broker, and also that once I've coughed up the initial payment, there will be little incentive for Sedo to try and get the price down to a sensible level.

I'd be grateful if anyone could let me know how they've found the service.

Thanks,

P.

I paid the $49 for a name I was interested in, but the first step is they appraise the name and then you have to offer at least 60% of the appraisal value before they will pass the offer on to the seller.

In this instance, I disagreed with the appraisal and therefore wasn't willing to go as high as the 60% so I gave up on the process.

So be aware of this intermediate appraisal step. It stops you making low offers on decent domains (which is what the "anonymity" offered by an intermediary would in fact be most useful for)
