I bought skydivingexperiences.co.uk and changed the nameservers to my hosting, with the ip 194.154.164.82

When I open an internet window i cannot see the site, it resolves to the 123-reg landing page.

But when I ping the domain name I get the correct ip returning (from my server).

A friend has confirmed that he can see the site (which is just a white page) on his machine

So I tried to flush the dns, release and renew my ip and it still doesn't work

I am aware it takes 24/48 hours to propigate throughout the web but if my command prompt can see it why can I?

Any advice much appreciated :)

I think we're on a BT line supplied by PLUS.com (at work)

Have you cleaned out the cache and deleted temp files in your browser? Might still just be showing you the old version from there?

Tried IE no luck

Cleared cache, browsing history, dns etc and still nothing

i get this message: "Error establishing a database connection" on firefox
"The website cannot display the page" on IE

dont know why though sorry:confused:

But i guess that is the old site?
Pinging skydivingexperiences.co.uk [67.225.131.43]

It looks like your ISP DNS servers are likely still holding a cached record for the domain, assuming the server it should be sitting on is 67.225.131.43.

Doing a dig yields:

; <<>> DiG 9.4.3-P1 <<>> skydivingexperiences.co.uk
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 46149

;; QUESTION SECTION:
;skydivingexperiences.co.uk. IN A

;; ANSWER SECTION:
skydivingexperiences.co.uk. 71939 IN A 67.225.131.43

That's being resolved by googles DNS ( 8.8.8.8 )

Edit:

Obviously If I read the OP correctly then I'd have noticed this doesn't appear to be the right IP. Oops.

Doing a quick check on the OpenDNS cache and force refreshing it, it still appears to be pointing to 67.225.131.43. Either the changes haven't been picked up by the root DNS servers and propagated out or something is afoul.

If you change your hosts file, close any browers, clear the cache and try it again you should be able to see if it works

it was my isp being shitty and not caching the updated dns records.

well not my isp, my home one worked fine!

thanks for all the suggestions though :)
