If you're a movie buff like me, you may like to know that Net Flix is finally offering their service in the UK, just been e-mailed by them today.

Free trial period for a month, then only around a fiver a month thereafter, looks good.

Just downloaded the free iPad app too for them, will see what that's like.

I think it looks great, LoveFilm has been so slow at moving forward. They announced a deal to stream from the Wii at least a year or so ago and still nothing, so I'm definitely going to try out Netflix - but maybe a bit later on when they have more stuff to choose from. It will definitely create some good competition.

Yes, agree there, I have Love Film and Blockbuster too - LoveFilm can be very slow at streaming and making things available. DVD service is very good though I have to say.

However, LoveFilm is £16.33 P/M for me and BB is £12.99 P/M, so NetFlix is much cheaper. :D

It might be worth me exploring this for my watch movies site. I'd just stuck a few pages of content there and left it, but it gets 50 or so visits a day, so if netflix have an affiliate option, that might be an interesting option.

Looks good, but the current choice of movies available (based on this search page) doesn't look too good for recent releases. Will be great and definitely worth trying when more content is added though (which according to the media is going to happen 'rapidly' over the next few months).

Anyone think that the likes of HMV are really going to find it even more difficult now because of this?

HMV should have got into streaming a long time ago and set up mini demos in stores with headphones like they do/used to do with albums. And commissioned/funded their own mini exclusives with bands and small film companies.

They'll be lucky if they last much longer, I know I personally prefer the discount DVD shops like That's Entertainment where you can pick up films that aren't that old @ 3 for £5, not £15 for one.

Netflix does look the nuts but it needs much more content to tempt me to sign up.
However I suspect when the content improves the cost will go up to something like £9.99 a month (unless you signed up early).

Isn't that the same as Lovefilm? I got an offer for Lovefilm instant via my PS3 for 4,99 a month.

Anyone on Lovefilm instant? Is it any good for documentaries?

Is that unlimited? Netflix is unlimited films and TV where as love film is usually a limit per month.

Does anyone know what they pay per signup through their affiliate program?

I signed up last night for the 30 day free trial via facebook.

Woke up this morning to find it posts what you have been watching for all of your friends to see.

That could have been embarrassing!!!

Lol

I bet you some people are going to be really embarassed.

It was on the radio on the way home from work. Seems to have gone up by £1 since yesterday.

I signed up yesterday too (thankfully did not link to Facebook)

At first I thought the selection didn't look all that great but once you personalise it with your likes and dislikes more suggestions appear which weren't visible initially.

Was up half the night watching films and am knackered now!

Seems like a good deal for £6 a month
