For that price gaming would be a bit of a problem. But it all depends on games though :)

I usually don't buy big brands simply because I am tired of cleaning up all the preinstalled cr*p. For you - check the Novatech's own brands.quite good specs / price ratio. BTW, you are always welcome to do it in my shop: bestbuylaptops.org.uk

For her, hmmm.... Dell range I guess. Good luck!

Lets establish a budget of £1000 for both then.

Your not gaming, your probably not video editing or doing intense multimedia then... so we could split it £300 yours, £700 hers? Then she could get something that she could game on.

Dabs.com are one of my favourite sites for new, they also have a clearance corner: http://www.dabs.com/clearance-corner

If you want an aff link I have one somewhere ^^

Ebuyer.com is another great site for electronics and anything computer related. Might find some good deals here:

Mobile cards don't generally cut it for 'gaming' though.... depends on the games though ^^

I have Dell Inspiron myself and it's been fine.

For her, if you need a bit more power for gaming, then Dell Outlet may be worth a look - refurbs offering more bang for your buck.

As usual, do your own research too.

I like Dell for their value for money. I also tend to find laptops normally break after two years, so make sure you have everything backed up on an external hard drive.

I got this one for my Brothers Birthday – great spec and looks for the cash. He absolutely loves it.

Also worth noting that the one I got came with an external DVD drive (not listed). Not sure if Amazon just made a mistake, or if the description is wrong – either way, was a nice surprise. As it's not listed though, I'm guessing there's a chance that the one you receive won't.

There's also a slightly lower spec version available for £339.
