OK - here's the question:

You have built a brand new site and want to get it at least listed in G. Not necessarily ranked but at least so G knows about it.

Hypothetically you have no other sites to link to it, and for a reason I won't divulge, can't run an adword campaign (not sure if this would work or not).

You're trying to stay away from directories etc...

Would you try:

1. Creating a social media presence including G+ and link to;
2. Press release;
3. Other?

I would add it to my webmaster tools account and make sure my sitemap pinged out whenever I updated the site.

I did this and this only with one site and because I added quality content I now ranked for some decent product terms.
 
I'm with Khallid. Best way. If its a WP site install a good sitemap plugin that pings google & bing on a new/updated post.
 
Can anyone recommend a site map plugin that you use for Wordpress? I've just built a new site to and I'm adding content.
