New Start Data

I *think* this would be the right section of the forum for this, apologies if not.

We are looking at signing up with a company called New Start Data, who say they offer the details of newly registered businesses; just over 10,000 a month.

Anyone used them or know anything about them? Our business is moving more towards getting new businesses set up with domain names and sites.

Their monthly fee seems somewhat steep, but if the leads are good then that's not a problem. The philosophy here is spending £1,000 on a business idea is fine just so long as you are sure it will, at the least, make £1,001.

All comments and thoughts welcome, suggestions for alternate, similar companies you've used so we can compare are particularly appreciated.

There are other companies supplying the same or similar data. I've never used it, and would be interested to hear how you get on with it.

On the flip side, each time I've registered a company I've been bombarded with written offers, though mostly in the legal and accountancy fields.

I used to work for a company that subscribed to the Thomsons Directory new listings alerts. Came on a CD (thats how long ago it was) once a month. Mail merge it all into letters, sent them out, and waited.
Worked really well, and paid for itself over time.

The above was preferred to using any Companies House data, as many companies are set up, and then left dormant.
At least with the Thomsons data, you were 95% sure it was an active company.

it would seem that New Start Data are asking a little too much for what they offer, all things considered here. if we decide to use i will let you know, but i wouldn't be expecting a review any time soon!
