hi, a little while ago i started a little bit of work for myself by word of mouth and its going very well so i would like to buy a domain and get on the web and reach even more people.

i have found a domain name i like however the .com is coming up as a premium domain its not loads of money a couple of hundred but is this expensive or normal for a .com domain ? as i can add a "s" to the end of the domain i want and get it for £7 and to me it still means the same

the .com domain i want looks like its parked as just points you to links about losing weight or gambling and so on, but it is for sale from go daddy only so what should i do? also the .co.uk is for sale at a normal price of like £3. its just the .com is coming up as premium. i only wish to advertise to the uk not the world as what i do is just for where i am not abroad. its more local to me with a possiblity of moving to other areas if it reaches that strength.

i have struggled to think of how to explain this with how i am thinking domains work but with picking a domain name do i go for a domain like "carsitter.com or a name for a business like alocar.com or alocars.com alo meaning "A LOVE OF", trying to keep it short but mean something, or am i thinking in the wrong direction?

any advice would be great as i am new to domain buying and dont want to just start buying domains without knowing what i am doing , as have read posts on here of people buying domain after domain and then it being of not much use, thanks in advance and hope to hear from someone who can point me forward in this feild

if it is a business that is specific to the UK then i would register the co.uk version,i would check the google keyword tool to see if the domain has any specific web traffic located in your area i:e, leicesterplumbers.co.uk (location+trade) ,if you would like to PM myself i would be willing to point you in the right direction.

Regards

Mark
