Hi friends,

I am new here. This is my first post.

Please appraise the domain sonyplaystation.co.uk for me.

What would be reseller price of the domain ?

Great name and a keeper for sure. Yes of course this domain url holds trademark issues, but this far from makes the domain worthless.

Park the domain and pocket the ppc revenue. And if you get a legal letter from Sony I am sure you won't argue with them and instead simply transfer it for a reg. fee. Again, just because a domain has trademark issues it is not worthless. They can make a great parking income with minimum effort.

The OP asked its value. Well, I wouldn't buy it and 99% of the posters here would not buy it im sure. That means that someone, somewhere may purchase it for a small fee, why small? Well, would you spend £1000 on something that could be taken from you tomorrow for £0 ?

Therefore, its value is zilch. Not a bean. Nothing.

Agreed, the question was possible resale value, for me ..zero.

I would take a punt on a tm but not certain companies which I know are very proactive on IP. Sony is one of them along with the likes of microsoft, disney....

If your going to get in trouble for anything it will be a domain name like

SonyPlaystation
Microsoftxbox
Appleipod

etc etc

Its not your average sony-playstationz-dealer-store.co.uk

If I had it I would try my best to sell it pronto for ANY profit even if small. Just not worth the trouble...

If we are talking about pure resale value yes...

You are right, cooolapts asked about resale value, in which case I would have to say the value is standard reg. fee. I wouldn't buy TM-names off anyone else, but if I come across something that has not been registered, I might add it to my portfolio, for sure.

Besides resale value only - I'm sure we can agree that if we consider overall potential value in terms of revenue for the owner, regardless of method, it would be harsh to say the domain name holds no value at all. Afterall, if you "handregister" this domain for £5.90+VAT for two years - you have plenty of time to earn it back and more through parking or linking it to an affilliate programme.

What's the hassle in pushing the domain over to someone? If you get a legal letter you act on it and transfer it over. No big deal IMHO.

You are assuming they only want the domain back, some of the larger companies can afford to sue you for trade mark infringment, lawyers costs, recover any income you have made from the name, force you to appoint a lawyer to defend yourself, get you to sign a multi-page legal declaration stating that you will not do it again......

Don't assume that saying sorry and giving it up will be the limit of it.

Wouldnt it depend on how much money they think you have made off their name aswell? You could find yourself in more touble than just simply saying sorry and giving it to them.

Was on an Indian domain forum yesterday where someone had bought Saab.in which of course in Hindi means 'Sir'.

Not sure how the car manufacturer would feel about that one, but there you go.

As for the Playstation one in this thread, I think it's playing with fire, even trying to invoke their wrath. Value for all the trouble it could cause, zero.

Better to steer clear of TM names full stop and come up with original ones of your own or look for drops.

Best of luck.
