could still be sending, the survey they did the other day some got at 9am and others were still getting it at midday (fresh sends).

from the survey email:

To show our appreciation to participants we will award one random respondent with an Apple iPod Nano. We will also award the first 200 respondents with a free category showcase for the domain of your choice

It appears that if it took 3 hours for sending the emails out, and let's face it, their target audience is going to be online for most parts of the day, the people who got the email at noon have a lesser chance of getting the free category showcase as those who received it at 9am.

This 'prize draw' falls foul of UK Competition guidelines.

Anything Sedo have to say on the matter?

Yeah thats what I thought.

Obviously people check emails different times, but one instance I know they check probably every minute so was pretty spot on with 9-12 etc.

However there is a big memberlist I imagine so it would not be instant, for example when ebuyer do a mass mail I get several copies throughout the day to various email addresses.

Aye, and I agree that it takes time - I have dealt with huge mailing lists in the past. However, they should make it 200 randomly selected participants, not the first 200.

I imagine that this is a case of someone in marketing not liasing with someone in tech.

it reads as a list of the first 200...

An external provider will send Sedo a list of email addresses for the first 200 respondents and the drawing winners to ensure anonymity.
...better odds than uk lotto....at least..!....z
