Nominet Accused of Misleading Members about Subscription Fees

Last week, Nominet issued a statement on the Member Hub, saying that they had a legal opinion regarding the "validity of our voting arrangements and our process regarding membership fees." They did not publish that opinion.

We have published Nominet's opinion and our reply on WeightedVoting.uk

Nominet's claim that the opinion supported the validity of the membership subscriptions is false. The opinion doesn't even deal with the question. It's a question that potentially puts millions of pounds into doubt. It could mean a refund of thousands of pounds to each member.

Both membership fees and weighted voting need proper answers from Nominet and real engagement with the membership. Not the gaslighting attempted in last week's statement. Members deserve better than that.

"We have reviewed the legal opinions recently published by a member querying the validity of our voting arrangements and our process regarding membership fees." was the statement, and opinion published does not cover that.

Really disappointing and as Dan has posted on the Community, misleading at best.

I really hope this isn't a deliberate attempt at misdirection from Nominet. This is how to turn the clock back 10-15 years.
