I’ll produce a summary of the results and share with members at the beginning of February, but in the meantime here are some of the headlines.

We received a statistically robust response rate from a representative sample across the entire membership. Membership is quite established, with most having been members for more than 10 years. Generally members were positive about Nominet with 73% indicating they were satisfied, particularly as a result of our customer service. The main reason for joining is for access to the discounted registration fee therefore whilst the majority of members placed some value on Nominet being a member organisation this could predominantly be as a result of the link between membership and the discount.

Members interaction with Nominet is largely passive, and the results indicate that there is little demand for increased engagement and a lack of understanding by some respondents of Nominet’s structure and the roles and responsibilities of the Board and members. There was also little appetite from the respondents for the introduction of additional benefits. Things like events and networking opportunities and training would be the most likely to be used if offered.

Taking these results into account I’ve been working on a draft programme of engagement for 2017 which has a combination of webinars, conferences and lunches. The next event will be the Open Day on the 28th February here at Nominet’s office in Oxford.
