Has anyone else had problems with Nominet querying a domain registrant being listed as UK Individual when they are a named person and are pointing the name at Sedo for sale/click earnings?

It looks like they are policing this now.

Nominet's email stated:

for business or trading purposes and they are also opted out of our WHOIS search facility as a consumer. To opt out, they must be, and remain a "consumer" i.e. an individual who has registered and is using the domain name for a purpose unconnected with any business, trade (this includes the registration of domain names for monetisation purposes e.g. pay per click advertising etc) or profession.

They are going to remove the address opt-out unless the Sedo listing is removed.

If you have PPC directly you can't opt out.

It's odd, because how does that differ when Registrars have parked pages with ads on thirty party owned domains.

That's normal practice. Unless something's changed, It usually means someone has reported it to Nominet rather than Nominet actually policing it.

In my experience when nominet force your details to be listed it's usually followed by a DRS or C&D. Not saying that's the case here though as we don't know the domain.

Not had the DRS but had the C&D and "threats" shortly after. Usually I get an email saying such and such a solicitor has requested details of your domain. (Edit: this email comes from Nominet).

More often than not, if its a whois opt out, its usually been reported and someone is hoping you'll leave it suspended and let it drop.
