Hi all,

I'm after a certain domain name for my client, but having problems contacting the existing owner. The domain is a .com, has identity shield and registered at nameview.

Anybody got any ideas how to contact the owner? The email link doesn't yeild any results when asking "is this domain for sale?"

Any help/advice would be a great help!!!

thanks!!!

Try sending 1,000 emails (well worded) to try and prove you're serious.

blimey, that was quick!!!

Thanks for that, will give it a try.

Is it worth asking sedo to aquire the domain for me?

wazzer.

I'd view Sedo as a last resort really...

Another option might be to contact Support at the registrar and get them to forward on your correspondence to the registrant (without giving you his/her details). If you catch the right person on a good day they may well do this for you.

good point about sedo.

I will send an email to nameview now.

thanks bb99 for your help!

Shielded how?

Via paid up privacy? email the privacy address.

if you do a whois on the domain at nameview, it only gives an email address in the form of "dsfjsdfhjlkdjfh9e4340 @ identityshield .com -example", its a bit like godaddy where it protects the owner. Emailed the privacy address with no luck.

Annoying tho if you want the domain, its parked at the moment, so would have thought it was for sale.

thanks,
wazzer.

Do you have a name of the owner or company name, I have in the past only had an onwers name with all emails bouncing so you can

1/ Send a letter, snail mail - but even that can be done online, I have tested this and it works, sent a leter to Alaska last month to contact an owner.

2/ Google the name and try and find any friendsreunited, myspace pages etc for them and contact to confirm they own the domain.

Unfortunately, there is NO owner information (c/o Whois IDentity Sheild), just an email link which is generated and only valid for a few days :(

I will try and google the domain name to see if anything comes back...
