Hi,

Here's the site I've been working on in my day job.
It's boozt.com, an online fashion shop which so far specialises in Scandinavian brands. Most of our customers come from Scandinavia, Netherlands and Germany but we are getting ready for a UK launch which is why I would love some feedback from you guys.

The site has three main categories men, women, kids followed by an outlet. On top of that it has "shop in shops" where you can see the whole collection of a brand e.g. Jack & Jones , Dyrberg Kern.

In particular I would really appreciate your feedback on :

  • You should be automatically shown the UK site if you are viewing from UK (little UK flag in top right). Does this work ?
  • Apart from having prices in pounds, what else would encourage you to shop with boozt.com or what would potentially put you off ?
  • Any other comments on usability, anything that confuses you as you navigate around the site ?

There will be an affiliate scheme coming at the same time as the UK launch, so if anyone wants to "pre-register" their interest please PM me.

Thanks for looking !

You asked for it, here goes ...

- The landing page imo is horrific. Much too large 'sale' graphic, black may be chic but not in huge, static, in-your-face, over the top stylie. It also immediately puts you off if you are a bloke looking to buy something since it's all female focussed and even if you were shopping for girlie items the pics below it are 1/2 below the fold so you loose the picture effect entirely.

- Not happy with the internal pages colour scheme, too dull and disparate.

- As a bloke I wouldn't go past the 1st page as I have no idea what age group, style or make of clothing you are offering.

Other than that it seems fine. Good luck with it & where's the discount code?

I love it

Very similar to next very m and s in operation around site.

What sort of money would it take to get myself a shop like that?

Looks fantastic. Job well done.

1. Yes
2. Prices are in Euros for me instead of £
3. I like the black graphic on the front page although it could maybe be a bit narrower so you can see more of the products below.

The site looks great overall - the homepage design is absolutely fine.

2 main issues:

1 - all the prices are in Euros. I know you mentioned this in your first post, but you *must* sell in GBP if you're targeting the UK.

2 - You really, really need to put some men's clothes on the homepage. Why show the women's black sale image on the homepage? Why not combine the men's and women's for the homepage?

Would definitely be interested in affiliating with you, provided you have either/both a product feed and voucher codes.

I agree with Pete. The site does look great overall, but it is showing in euros, and it could certainly do with some menswear on the front page.

Also, I think the homepage could do with perhaps a large shot of a model - after all, they're there to sell the clothes - Like ASOS do. The Sale block overwhelms the little images of clothes underneath it in my view. We know there's a sale, but we want to see the clothes.

overall though, a very nice looking site and the product pages look really good with a nice clean layout.

For me, quality products at decent prices, speedy delivery and an easy returns process are key.

All the best :) .

It looks a great venture.

Steve.

Gives familiar environment to UK catalogue shoppers (designwise) but spoiled completely by EURO prices. I don't like the Facebook on the top, the top bit could be used better, but this is just personal opinion. Good luck!

The original post does mention the Euros/Pounds issue.

Nice site, but it needs a homepage which doesn't default to the 'women' category. If you looks at websites such as M&S and Debenhams, they have a homepage which doesn't default to a category and caters for all (e.g. both have sliders which flick through graphics for the men/women/children categories).

Thanks

Thanks for all the comments and for taking the time to visit the site. Much appreciated.

We normally would have inspiration photos on the homepages - i.e. models wearing the clothes, but as this was the sales period, it was a case of the design coming second place to the SALE message

A "real" homepage is on the cards which will showcase different departments and brands. As traffic is low at this stage, the homepage is the same as the womens homepage and as most of the traffic is bought we can direct men directly into the menswear homepage.

I will reply here when the UK (i.e. GBP) version goes live, an affiliate programme will follow the launch and I will announce that too. We do have a product feed.

Have now refreshed the site with more fashion / inspiration shots and more / smaller "windows".

The other recent change is a new top navigation. It's never easy to fit this all in with all the departments and brands, and that's going to be a constant challenge as we add more and more brands.

Hi Sean,

Good question !

For the moment we ship to all EU from Sweden / Denmark.

At this stage that is more efficient than having a UK warehouse... Since there are so many products it wouldn't make sense. We would have to have duplication in the warehouses or if we didn't we might end up having to ship some from the UK and some from Scandinavia, and then it also adds a lot of complexity with pricing and availability.

I think asos is shipping worldwide from one UK based warehouse. Probably only the likes of amazon have multiple warehouses. Not sure what others do.
