I'm quite happy with my domains in general but, I'd still like to bring the number down. I pay the occasional exec rate for .com domain recoveries, and have a bad habit of leaving most uk's till the last minute.

This weekend I was caught out by both 123-regs current procedure of removing domains from the Control Panel a week before deletion and both 123-reg & Nominets closure for the Bank Holiday weekend. I did stupidly believe I might be able to re-register "**" by hand. Now all I need is somebody to tell me it was a "Stupid Drop" :rolleyes

and 'catchit' for getting a result

As a minimum, I would advise keeping an Excel spreadsheet with all your domains in order of expiry date, to act as an additional safeguard. Do you have something like that at the moment?

Rgds

Of course your right accelerator, and I'm a fairly competent user of both Excel and Access. I don't miss the "sell-by-dates" due to lack of info - it's more to do with focus=None.

I guess I am backwardly asking for an appaisal on a domain I no longer own

Seeing as there is no website no real searches for it. It's reg fee at best.

Must say it's pretty lame putting someone elses domain in your title and asking for an appraisal on a domain you don't own.

I bet the owner was just about to give you it back before you asked for an appraisal :-)

Got to agree with Caz about value, I don't see what the fuss is myself,I wouldn't put to much money into getting it back ;)

Caz with hindsight you are of course correct, I humbly apologise and blame the bottle of Rioja this time and be aware not to do this again. I am aware that acorn posts do get indexed so it's probably to late for an amendment by admin to be effective. A little to quick seeking opinions in this instance. I haven't previously used a catch service so the tag didn't relate.

Thanks for the other responses also - My question regarding the "Tag change" really was based around being able to access a/any "Renewal control panel" for the domain over the bank holiday weekend - Something I was unable to do at 123-reg due to their 4 day Easter closure and the domain no longer showing in my account (due to 123-regs current procedure of removal 7 days prior to deletion)

I do get all of Nominets reminders and I can personally vouch for that being several dozen a month with their excellent 'count down' notifications and my propensity to let them get too close to the experation date.

As I mentioned i have been trying to actively reduce my domain holdings (mostly by thining out those that i have reavaluated) I do note around a half get reregistered the same day as the drop - which i try to use as a measure as to where I may or may not be wrong in my assessments.

This particular domain, I'm not even sure if it was even parked - Is one I wouldn't have normally been one that I would have let drop due to the value of the business model it applies to.

Once again thanks to those for replying and apologies to anyone i may have upset - Now I just hope a comprehensive reply hasn't exasperated the problem

Didn't your partner catch this?

Hi. And yes hence my opinion on reg fee lol

Bailey.

Pm me your email and I will have a transfer sent over for the domain.

It's horrible losing a domain. I had some of my partners names on my tag and I let one drop making £80 a month from adsense lol

He also had troubles at 123 a while back so I'm pleased to give it you back.

the plan worked lol

looking at google i would think domain has value, yes, although prob wouldn't have thought to handreg
i've accidentlly dropped a lot better, as we all have i'm sure

I personally think it's worth more than reg fee.

I agree it's worth more than reg fee but finding an end user buyer could take a long time so I wouldn't be to bother about it.

Good luck whoever as it ;)

Respect to Caz,how honourable 8)

Great gesture that Caz! There should be more people like you on this forum, everyone seems to be bitching and arguing lately.

Caz that is a wonderful gift - and I'm absolutely chuffed. I really didn't associate the catch with any particular individual or service. Although i guess I half expected it be someone who visited Acorn.

I truly would like you to keep the domain. It really is one of about a thousand that I'm guilty of having done nothing with - and if the truth be known - thats probably where it would return to.

I'm going to start offering my drops (although I have thinned it down by a couple of hundred already) for cost of re-registering and transfer here. Hopefully to individuals with a history of development.
Thanks again for the thought
Ray.

I hope my PM just sent goes someway to explaining
