Paypal funded a refund for me out their own pocket. Cool.

I recently had a chargeback from a customer for a $50 sale for a domain.

Paypal sent me an email saying

"PayPal has determined the buyer should receive a refund. Due to the unique
circumstances of the claim, and your PayPal account history, we will refund
the buyer on your behalf. Your account will not be debited."

How cool is that? They refunded the buyer and did not take a penny from my account. I have only ever had a couple of refund requests in my many years of using paypal and I normally don't dispute but refund to save any trouble.

Does paypal do this often or am I now considered a respected customer? :)

I had this when someone sold me a moisture damaged phone but they denied it, I asked them what do I do with this phone, its working but errors alot, do I return it. They told me they will refund me without taking the money so keep the phone or bin it, whatever.

I was quite impressed also that it worked out well.

I never buy phones any more off there. Cheaper to just take a cheap contract.

First of all, well done! Never heard of anything like this before.

I had an issue with Paypal a couple of months ago. Had a debit for £50 to "Facebook Ireland" despite never having bought anything off Facebook in my life or used any suspect apps etc.

Was rather alarmed at the thought my account had been compromised. Paypal refunded the money promptly but were rather vague when I asked them how it could have happened in the first place. When I googled it appears to have happened to lots of people.

I've lost a good bit of confidence in Paypal since then but as least they're quick to refund.
