Wanted: Website Review Pet Friendly Accommodation directory

[chuckylefrek]

Recently launched this site http://www.petsallowed.co.uk

The site is an online directory type site that lists pet friendly accommodation, places to eat and drink, and attractions in the UK and Ireland.

Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

Paul

very nice looking site there

Looks excellent to me – very professional.

Nice to see you've got it developed and live after we discussed this name and your plans for it many months ago, via PM.

Good stuff - what a great domain name for this valuable niche!

£6 pcm for an ad sounds expensive. Are you going to promote the site in relevant printed media?

Fantastic site, fantastic domain and niche. Nice work! One of the best developments I've seen for a while.

Looks really very clean and polished. Might want to consider what shows up "above the fold" i.e. without scrolling, as I think the main intro text will be invisible to people on 1024x768, especially if they have a toolbar installed as well...

Looks good. There's a lot of competition in that field, so it'll be interesting to see how you get on.

I'd submit our details if we were pet friendly but we're not, I'm afraid... don't fancy cleaning up the dog hairs each week!

Hey thanks for all the fabulous feedback - it is nice to get this after spending the last year working in my spare time to design and develop this site.

Yes I am still considering the monthly charge. I would charge less but there are complications with the payment provider and not being able to charge an annual fee due to the risk to them from charge backs or something like that. I would prefer to just charge a single annual fee and it may be worth reverting to paypal for this. Actually I would prefer to offer the listings free and get as many businesses on the site as possible but as this is taking up more and more of my time, I need to bring in some money for all my time spent on it. Any ideas greatly appreciated!!

I am however offering a launch promotion at the moment offering a 12 month premium listing for free (promotion code LAUNCH2010) and I also have a free basic listing that will always be available. The free listing only includes some basic details though.

Yes Rob, I spent a lot of time deliberating over the domain name and as a result accumulated quite a few domain names.

With regards promotion, yes I have the wheels in motion, the first press release going out today. So fingers crossed it brings in some new advertisers.

There does seem to be a lot of competition - I seem to find a new site every day but I am determined to make mine the best. I have spent a lot of time on the search facility and have yet more to do on this still.

Really nice site ... well done & best of luck with the promotion.
