I wonder what's the percentage rate of successful "buy outs" and those which only alert registrants that there are hordes of people willing to pay for the domain name.. Maybe firestars should be put on a community's salary to refrain from spoiling the catching fun? :p

You could look at it another way, a domain owner gets contacted about their dropping domain, the potential buyer makes them a lowish offer, someone else might also contact them to make an offer.

So, being inquisitive about the sudden interest in their domain, the owner does a Google for their name and sees it listed on Domainlore with a multiple advance bids for £££ or ££££, thus showing the owner what their domain worth really is and so they renew it, would it be better for Domainlore to make their advance bids page "no follow" to prevent this?

They could even Google their domain for other reasons without receiving an offer, and see it listed with advance bids.

That's a good point and it won't make any harm to do pages no-index. For the time being, though, most of advanced auctions are placed few days before domain drops -- I don't believe it could affect someone's decision at such a later stage.
