Postcodes & Town lists

Hello,
does anyone have the full UK postcode with latit/longtit and the counties/towns lists available as CSV's please?

I went & spent a couple of hours building a counties/towns list but it looks like the data I used was out of date, it has Avon, etc in it.

I can let anyone have a copy of that if you want, and a lat/long postcode list with the first 4 digits only, but these are no use to me unfortunately, I need the full postcodes & up to date counties/towns.

Can anyone help please?

Dont know if this will provide you with a full list in CSV format but we use UK and international address management and postcode finder web services and more... if it can help

Going to cost ya big.

I worked on a project like this some months ago, and pythagorus is a c*#t, i developed a nervous twitch coz of that.

Due to the substantial costs of the 7 digit post code to long lat to town names we ended up going to freaky town and doing a google earth mash up to get the data.

I don't have the finished project as i only there to do some code to function conversions to make it reusable and create some libraries.

I'd look at the same idea

Or failing that, you thought about trying someone that works on Getafreelancer / Rentacoder. Not sure what the quality would be like though

You won't get it to 7 characters for free - and not below a few K for all the UK.

You can get it the first sector - i.e. AB12 1, AB12 2 etc for a few hundred or so I think. Shop around

You could use google maps, but it's not 100% accurate - depends how accurate you want to be

Google maps is not very accurate for UK postcodes, but there is apparently an accurate method using a local search with the Google AJAX search API, thanks to the guy on the link below. You'll need some code to collect and store the postcodes lat/long.

Seems spot on all I have tested it with so far.

Not sure regarding licensing issues of course.

Right,
I now have 2 gargantuan sql files that do indeed include the entire, full, UK postcode lists.

However, I'm bolloxed (even though I have detailed explanation of how to do it) if I can get the data to convert into the right format & then export it from a database as a csv file.

So here's the deal - if there's anyone here that knows how to use mysql databases properly & can import the sql files, then export them as csv files for me, you can have a copy of the full uk post code for free, saving you £12K or whatever it was

Thanks for all of the offers of help, but I reinstalled xampp & managed to do this myself.

There's around 2 million postcode entries all with long & lat, some duplicates by the look of it, I'll tidy it up & see what's left.
