I am torn in this, is it better to have an intro or home page first on affiliate sites or just straight to a list of products ?

My sites with unique content home pages, have been massively indexed with dozens to 100s of pages when searching for site:dom.ext and super quick, where as the affiliate sites which go direct to products seem to have just a few pages indexed in the same time.

Conversion rates are not highlighting much thus far.

What do you do personally or what do you think works best ?

From a personal point of view, I'm not bothered about reading content on product sites, I just want to see the products I came looking for, they should be right in front of me, and then a menu to specific products if I need something more specific.

All my stores just show products, as soon as you hit the home page on them you see special sales links, which are call to action links to get those cookies on computers, most of the stores have xxx's or xxxx's of indexed pages using site:dom.ext and they convert well without any long text intros.

I figured google was punishing a lack of unique content since everyone uses the same feeds, then I was getting slammed for dupe content.

So I started adding unique content, to try and counter that and along with deep linking from busier sites, those ones seem to have rocketed.

Do you have examples, one of my examples it the plug one in my signature, which has shot to top 5 since adding that index page, prior to that it was hovering around 25-30.
