Anyone on here ever run any promoted tweets before?

I've a bit of a weird idea that I'm tempted to try out but didn't realise that it would be as expensive as it is to get a RT etc. (can set it low obviously but probably won't get many views then).

Would be nice to hear how others got on.

Jamie.

Nope, but i've been buying tweets on accounts with over 100K followers for about a tenner. That might be the cheaper way to go?

Don't think they accept anyone. Think there may be a min follower count to be eligible. Could be wrong.

Just set up a campaign today.

Targeting is good.

Have chosen to test to pay for new followers.
Will be much more expensive than buying fake followers but this allows for specific targeting.

Will report back if the campaign gets traction.

I'd be interested to know what you end up paying per follower.

Particularly when you factor in how Facebook have encouraged businesses to advertise to build a following - and then massively cut the % of your audience who will see your posts organically anyway!

Talking of Facebook...

I hate the promoted posts thing of course but when it comes to buying engaged followers I recently had a good experience.

via Facebook ads I acquired >1000 UK followers that have the specific interest that I was targetting for the page, The result is a lot of likes and comments when I post a status update (not "boosted").

Cost per fan via FBook ads - $0.07

Compare that to buying fans versus Fiverr or wherever... Which give you zero engagement / worthless fans.

Thanks everyone.

If anyone wants to know my idea send me a PM. It's something that you'll either love or hate but I wouldn't mind someone telling me whether it's good or not.

It works pretty well for us.

Whether that's value or not I suppose depends on if you're using them for credibility or actually hoping to convert a few. Sounds expensive to me (compared to email signups for instance).

I've been paying up to £0.50... Very expensive but much more targeted (in theory) that other methods!
