I'm currently making a basic site to list all of my domains on, and as well as make offer or buy now sales, I'd like to offer an option for lease to own.

My question is, if I lease a domain, is it a simple matter of me changing the nameservers to the buyers web host, so that they can use the add on domain function in their web hosting control panel, and then make their site and set up email addresses etc?

It doesn't matter to you how they set everything up. Once you change the nameservers to their choice they will take it from there. They just need to tell you the nameservers and your job is done. Different control panels will be used by different hosts - some might just want to use their own vps etc or even do a redirect. There isn't one-size-fits-all web hosting settings.

If they're not UK domains you can always change A records and DNS settings as requested if they don't want to actually use the domain nameservers. If they're UK domains they will need to point them somewhere first and do that themselves. I wouldn't get too hung up about it as you can easily accommodate any requests.

One more question, I've moved most of my domains to Dynadot, so that I can use their DNS forwarding to redirect all domains to my new sites home page, which will all be 301 redirects. I assume there will be no problems with redirecting 1,049 domains?
The only problem you might run into by redirecting so many domains is Google might not rank your site as well just because you have so many different domains pointing to your website other than that you should be fine just might not rank well if google picks up the links as spam.

Yes, changing the nameservers would be the best solution >they can then manage all dns records (A/AAAA, MX ..) and make changes at any time from their own panel.

On 1,049 redirects: that should be fine. As I understand, Dynadot handles bulk 301 forwarding // @Dynadot > Alex, can you comment on this? tx

@domaininvestors, I remember reading something about 10-15 years ago, which was saying similar to what you say about the likes of Google, possibly seeing redirecting so many domains to one site, as being spam, but as it's a 301 redirect I assume it's not a problem.

@Helmuts, yes, Dynadot DNS settings has DNS forwarding settings where you can choose 301 or 302, I was going to go with the 301 option as a permanent option, rather than 302 which is for temporary forwarding.

I'm not that fussed about the site not ranking, it probably won't rank well anyway as it's just a basic site with categories of domain names, and another page with a full list of domains for those who can't be bothered looking at each category page.
