I have the domain for the village that I live in. I never got around to building a site as there are already other sites doing a reasonable job on not so good domains.

It seems a shame to waste the domain, so I thought about offering personal email addresses for a fee (not a new idea) but with all proceeds going to local causes.
I have asked a few friends locally and all are very receptive of the idea.

We live in a large village with a very strong community, indications are that I will easily get a minimum of 100 people paying an annual fee for their email address, (one guy alone has agreed to have 4 for his family and one for his band) which will generate a reasonable amount for local causes.

What I need is a recommendation for suitable email software that will minimise the input required from me and that will make users feel comfortable that their personal emails are not visible to me.

I'll be very grateful for any suggestions you might have.

Microsoft have a similar option to gmail for business I found google version more user-friendly to setup though

Never used it but price wise may be preferable

Another option would be

https://www.zoho.com/mail/zohomail-pricing.html

Only used the free version software options were good but limits to stop spamers made it unsable for buisness they locked down my account affter something like 10 emails bounced during testing took days to get back online.

(The paid options are a lot more flexible and business friendly with dedicated support I here)

Maybe look a rackspace as well

I would say Google Mail, each person would then get Google Drive / Calendar and it would be great on their phone.

Your input would be minimal other than setting them up / billing.

Yes you could get a VPS and use it to manage the mail, but you don't want the hassle of managing it!

I recently asked on here about Direct Debit and everyone recommended GoCardless.

We're actively using it now and it's brilliant. Setting up billing via API is a dream. Much simpler than Worldpay that we use as our recurring card billing option.

To handle automated invoicing (if you need to), Xero is awesome.

We basically now have people sign up, get invoiced, pay, process their payment in the accounts software and receive a receipt fully automatically. Super slick.

Spend a bit of time on the tech and you should find it doesn't take any admin.
