Currently (for my sins) have my private and business domains held with ukreg. They have been "ok" over the years apart from one instance of them leaking credit card details and another only recently of my contact telephone number mysteriously changing on their system!

Can anyone recommend a good registrar for a mix of uk, com etc domains? Most are dormant with catch all forwarding!

Aside from my own tag the only .co.uk privider I use is Daily.co.uk and for .coms standard is better the devil you know and use godaddy, alternatively I use register4less.com which I've used since 1999 (same website too, never upgraded it).

Although I use my own tag now for .uk, I know from past experience that I can highly recommend Domain Monster, their customer service is top notch. For .com's GoDaddy is so darn cheap but not the best, I would say go for name.com or dynadot.com if you want the best. :)

Domain Monster is now part of the 123-Reg/Host Europe group, so yeah go to the STI clinic if you touch that one ;)

ooh I have a few .tels with name.com all good there too. Add 10yrs on godaddy, transfer to name :p

I'm the same as Skinner - use Daily for all co.uk's (never any major issues), and use Godaddy for .com's. I know a lot of people moan about Godaddy but I've never had a problem with them and they're cheapest (with discount codes) for new .com registrations.

Used to use Domain Monster too but got put off when they were taken over by Host Europe given previous dreadful experiences I'd had with 123-Reg.

I have personally used Enom they are great but cost for co.uk domain is quit high, but other than co.uk price there service is good. For Co.uk 123reg is good option.

123reg with all the drama we have witnessed here seriously ?

123-reg and 1&1 are the two registrars that seem to feature most often in "complaint" threads on Acorn, so I'd give them a miss for sure. There are so many others to choose from, why go out of your way to give yourself a headache?

Well, I've signed up with daily.co.uk and am in the process of transferring a few domains. Seems straight forward enough and hasn't required me to pay a transfer renewal fee which is good.

For those with experience of daily.co.uk, I assume they haven't had any major security issues unlike ukreg/fasthosts (where my contact details were changed and also years ago my card details stolen).

Noticed one thing, Fasthosts won't allow me to transfer a couple of domains because I've not owned them for more than 60 days. Are they even allowed to put such restrictions on a domain? I could do it through Nominet but of course that will cost me!

I use Daily for all .uk domains, i've had no problems as of yet.

For everything else I use Dynadot.com, really good registrar imo!

If they are .uk domains there should be no such restriction drop there support an email.

According to Fasthosts, it is a restriction stated in Nominet's own terms, yet they couldn't link me to it and I can't find it myself.

I suspect what I'll have to do is wait for my caught domain to eventually transfer (they have this stuck in a never ending loop too) and then pay Nominet the £10+vat fee for batch transfer of the remaining two domains just to get them moved so I can cancel my account with Fasthosts...finally!
