Registration of scammer domains

I had a spoof email from an email address @companieshousecomplaint.co.uk

A quick check showed the domain was registered yesterday with whois privacy.

I thought I would notify Nominet so called and spoke to someone in the compliance team.

The response was , "we can't do anything about it, I suggest you contact the registrar GoDaddy..."

I know Nominet can't police all dubious registrations, but when it is so obviously a scam couldn't they apply a large dose of common sense and deal with the issue before people are scammed ?

They'd be opening themselves up to massive potential liability by taking on the role of judge, jury and domain executioner. Though I understand your frustration...

Recently had similar with lloydssecuremessage.co.uk & rbs-secure-message.co.uk & variants.

It's nearly always godaddy, especially when they have an offer on.

Forward them to [email protected], or [email protected] or [email protected]. It takes a few days for them to suspend them - by which time the damage is probably done.
