Anyone thought of starting a Hosting Business? i.e. using a reseller account. Just wanted your views.

I would say that competition is steep - find yourself a market but dont expect too many people to just wonder in and sign up.
geeks like to measure all the information first ;)

Been there done that almost a decade ago we started and about 6 yrs ago I sold out, its on my top 5 things to do.... never.

1, Masturbate with razorblades.
2, Run and Jump onto my Bicycle with no Seat.
3, Collect the soap bits in jail.
4, Run hosting business.
5, Fall down a paper mountain, get covered in paper cuts and land in a pool of vinegar.

Remember as a reseller YOU are responsible for your support queries, I used to work with 2 other people, and we used to handle support 8 hours each a day, 7 days a week, it sucked. Now you get a ticket monkey company in India to handle your day to days and pass anything more complex to your host.

You also need your T&C's wrote, have to police your users, have to deal with the whining.

God I'm happy I got out of that game :D

I agree with Skinner - not worth the hassle. I still have some hosting clients, but they are the least problematic. I shifted quite a few away a couple of years ago, as they were always on the phone!
