Guiliano owns several other "more generic sites," Bugna said, but lockthirtyone is the only one specific to another local business. She calls it cyber-squatting.

"I found that if it's your trade name locally, you don't need to register it as a trademark," Bugna said. "But, if (the Web site domain name) was meant to direct business away from another establishment, that's an indication it was obtained in bad faith."
