I received a newsletter home from my daughters school saying how they'd raised £200 for children in need and £308 for the school etc... and had an idea for fundraising...

I thought if they put an affiliate page on the school website with an amazon search box, google search, john lewis etc... and then made parents aware if they order via the site the school would receive commission this would raise funds for the school.
Is anyone aware of any implications/problems with doing this? I will ask the school if it's allowed in their rules but are there any affiliate issuses?

Also if anyone has any other ideas to raise funds?

There's something similar with ei42 Ei42.com - Everything on the Internet and 42, the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything

Basically your school would join (free), this would create a shop (like Discounts - Part of the ei42 Shopping Network ) where visitors can visit over 1000 retailers. The affiliate/cashback would then be split between ei42/refferals and if they also joined, the user.

They have a referral scheme, so you would get a cut of every sale made for the referral.

My link is Ei42.com - Everything on the Internet and 42, the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything should you decide to join :)

One thing though, what a stupid name, ei42!

Why would I use that and split the commision?
I can create a page myself, Ill just put an amazon search etc on the page. the question is are there any rules or is the school treated the same as you or I?

Depends how much time you have to spare, to create your own shop, when that one has all the merchants available.

I wasn't planning on a shop, just any search facilities or links to main landing pages depending on merchant.

Funnily enough I'm just about to build a school fundraising site for my kids school.

They were going to promote "the giving machine" which is a non profit making company - that keeps 25% of everything raised

I'm going to stick up a wordpress site along a similar idea to the giving machine, but with the added bonus of being able to sell advertising on it to local businesses as well as keeping 100% of the money.

I thought the Regal theme would work quite well with a bit of tweaking.

I'm going to put it on g1ve.co.uk - thought that would work quite well.

Suppose it would be easy enough to install a white label cash back site but to modify it so all of the commissions just went to the school, or just a simple Amazon script - most things can be purchased on there, people trust it and the payout is pretty decent (conversions are high too).

I had the same idea for my sons school. I asked affiliate window and they were cool with it, just sign up as normal using schools address/email etc

i asked the school and they said they were ok with it, but didnt seem to understand what it all meant (dont u just find schools are still stuck in the 90's?)

due to other commitments this was put on the back burner but all i was simply going to do is put a new page on their site (Fundraising etc) and join all the affiliate programs I could and put the company logos up with a bit of text saying click here...

was going to try and get it done in time for xmas but missed out on that. i reckon u could blow the funds raised from traditional methods (fetes etc) out of the water and u have an immediate captive audience (send out a newsletter to all parents saying 'if doing your shopping online make sure you visit our shopping fundraising page first'

also, why is it that schools still send out newsletters? surely they should ask the parents if they wanted it in paper form or emailed to them (would reduce costs!!!)

still on my list to do.........

enough rambling, back to work!!!

I emailed the school offering my services gratis, and didn't get a response. nice.

p.s the school does use something called parent mail where you get useless information emailed but you still get a bit of paper in the homework.
