schooluniform.org.uk

had this a number of years. think is a good domain with lots of potential and good chance of enduser sale
i mean, almost every kid goes to school and most have to wear a uniform.
that's the majority of the population, on a rolling basis between ages of 4+ and 16/18
most of the big names sell uniform too. debenhams, bhs, marks, primark
i think the .org.uk extension here gives credibility, and we know will perform as well as anything else on google.co.uk

what are your thoughts? listed on here in xxx range in past and got no interest
are there affiliates i can use.
what would an enduser pay before development?

thanks

i think thats a cracking name and would like it myself.
this is the time of the year you could make some nice commission, and i agree about the .org.uk giving it credibility

Great name but as every parent knows if you want a school uniform ie the basic kit you go down to tescos asdas or any of the other superstores.

The name would work as an info or niche posh school uniform site perhaps with affilated links but to be honest who really goes online to buy a school unifrom

people used to say that about food :D
they buy that online too from the stores you mentioned

the google results in the link i gave show how many suppliers are selling online

i think could make a good cottage industry, as a parent myself it's the same stock items i need time and again
grey skirts, tights, white polo shirts etc

the shops disappoint me more and more
as a bloke i hate shopping. full stop. i loved woolies for this reason, best shop ever. one stop i would buy kids clothes, toys, cds, sweets, films, cards

then they closed it down!

marks and spencer have been going more and more down the toilet, i don't even visit kids section anymore in our local one, gone from half a floor to the size of a toilet cubicle
i do like primark, but again they regularly sell out or dont have stuff in stock.
same way as every parent knows, try buying a swimsuit after summer in the major stores, for a girl........ you can't! they think as 'summer' is over noone wants one lol

i actually tried to but my daughter a raincoat. a cagoule, as we used to call them a while back. couldn't!
start of summer and not one stocked one. i'm just talking a rain mac, bratz, make, no make, anything
tried bhs, next, primark, everyone. and i mean EVERY clothing shop
not one
i did point out that it doesnt stop raining as we have hit british summertime lol
it drove me mad. shops are so stupid. i hate shopping and almost exclusively shop online. i think more and more do

i actually see half the highstreet stores completely disappearing in next few years. just eateries and some others surving
nothing to do with domain, just talking :D

Yeah they do buy food online but how many folk do you know who do it through it a domain name like buyfoodonline.co.uk

There's opportunity there in everything you said. For example, you could highlight online sources of hard-to-find, out of stock items that the local shops seem to throw up their hands and give up on... Aim at the people who hate shopping - could be a big market!

I think the name is good but getting it to work for school uniforms would be a lot of work because imo you would have to add something else bar click throughs because of the org ext

Maybe a forum/blog and loads of info so parents could discuss uniforms with links to buying the stuff

if thats how you feel and you have a great domain to go with it then why not get a site up and running, i could see it working well as i am the same as you, i hate shopping for school uniforms (thats why i let the wife do it) but we always get what we can online first eg: pencil cases/bags etc
plus if you leave it too late the shops in town are always sold out.

go on develop!!! ;)

Yeah they do buy food online but how many folk do you know who do it through it a domain name like buyfoodonline.co.uk

none

but the supermarkets sell everything

what i have is an exact product domain.
as i mentioned, if you check the link i gave for 'school unform' on google here

the results turning up on natural search are:
www.yourschooluniform.com
www.schooluniform247.co.uk
www.schooluniformdirect.co.uk
www.schooluniformshop.co.uk
www.directschoolwear.co.uk
www.uniform4kids.com
www.schooluniform.co.uk

the big stores are paying for sponsored links
debenhams, marks etc

so question is, approach the smaller guys doing well/not so well in search, or the bigger guys paying for links, or build a site?
i don't fancy shipping direct uniform etc lol. so i need good affiliates if i build

know of any, guys?

it's even harder to get school uniforms for my missus(adult sizes)....it's now only specialist stores and far to expensive

Cant help you with affiliates, but why not if you have access to free or cheap hosting start a forum with the name using phpBB that way you can get to guage the interest and if it takes off add pages with links and ads

Using the built up forum members as proof of interest you might get the big boys interested then and get la creme de la creme paid up front ads

I would expect parents would like to discuss school uniforms online..prices availability hot deals etc

really appreciate everyones input
thanks for your time :)
