LOL I wondered if you had read the thread back, as a noob tho thought I would keep my head down....fair play to irf tho, he is getting diggs and if he keeps at it, may get somewhere.
The quality of search returns are poor, feels like a combo of using the 'wayback' engine and 'dogpile' but used within a niche could be a good tool. ie. a donation of 10c per search goes to the baby panda's would earn you a few loyal users and a few quid.

There are better 'free' search engine scripts out there than this one that he is pushing. He has built nothing and has no unique proposition.
Are you about to set his engine as your homepage or even stick it in your bookmarks? Nope.
If I were him, I would focus on producing a search engine for a specific subject or niche. Bit more chance there.

there's only one niche i am interested in at the moment and that's to start running a search engine with no ads which i am doing,now i know the demand iwll start improving it, better scripts better results, give me some time, i'll make a difference!! i hope so anyway!!
dont worry- i'm feeling lucky is coming off asap, i should have done TM check on it, of course i knew google use it but i didn't know it was TM, usually the they show a little R in circle if it is,but it didnt so i guessed it wasnt. my mistake!!:???:

Looking out for....
A search engine script that can search within a niche/vertical anyone finds one please let me know. could this script be altered to insert a keyword fixed that would be added/preceed the search ie, dandruff.....then the user would type in flakey or something?
Suzi cant find your mega-seller-domain bust, there should be a thread purely for busted reports to be filed. And possibly scammer alerts?

Alas that is not a niche though. That is just a design / business choice. By niche I mean a search engine that searches in, say, weather data, just dvds, just computer components, just cars etc etc. Most the time they turn into comparison sites, but to have search engines that just search for data about a particular subject would be interesting. Rollyo, the google verticles, google custom search all kind of does this, but you have to hand pick the sites they are using which kind of defeats the point. Some good symantic programming, verticle analysis and word association algos could product some interesting search engines that don't try to index EVERYTHING and also provide a better chance at succeeding.

you could be right!! i am not sure if people would be ineterested in going to a specific search engine for say, holidays because i know i wouldn't, i would just google it or go on anyother search engine, to do what you are saying you would have to make it into a portal and would require a lot personnel to keep updating current trends and data and deals and so on, with simple search engine the idea is to get good and fair results without making anyone billions of $$, its far away from what my aim is!! but still a good idea!!

And you think that a search engine does not need a team of people keeping things up to take? A 'portal' search engine would still be (relatively) cheaper to run with a team than a search engine that indexes everything.
For the record, I was not suggesting a portal. I think you missed what I was suggesting.
