Hi All,

A piece of advice please...I am currently forwarding my domain name onto some shared space I got with my broadband package. However, my domain name doesn't seem to be appearing in Google (or any other se), even if I search for the name.

I have used Google Webtools and Analytics and cant get my site verified unless I use the much less glamorous name of my hosting site (www.webhost.com/myaccount@webhost/mysite.html) as apposed to mysite.co.uk).

Does web forwarding stop a domain name appearing within search engines? Are there any solutions other than getting some 'proper' web hosting?

thanks in advance:mrgreen:
Sig.

Website hosting is cheap, really cheap so if you want your business (domain) name ranking then get some hosting for your domain and not a forwader to some freespace you may or may not have access or want in the future,

If you forward your domain to freespace that is the page that will usually get listed, dump the freespace and spend a few quid on yearly hosting for your domain, your domain can point to any host using NS (name servers) so that you get indexed under your domain name.

Web forwarding isn't the best idea if you are looking for good search engine rankings.

Why not get your broadband provider to host the domain properly (usually involves updating your nameservers or transferring the domain into them) rather than forwarding to their address?

Failing that as Sigmond has said, web hosting is really cheap now.

SEO is quite a complex subject. Has Google even crawled your site yet? What does "site:www.yourdomain" from give you, and what have you done to get backlinks to your site?

One good way of getting backlinks now is via social networking sites such as del.icio.us, and by writing and submitting articles etc..

Cheap WebHosting Anyone?!

Thanks Guys - Yeah your right I do need a proper web hosting service - im just a tight arse that all!

Do you have any suggestions for decent value webhosting? I have about 3 or 4 domains that i eventually want to develop if my first project works out...

Thanks again!
Sig.
