I have to clear a house. Its mine, but no furniture. Just clothes, a bit of studio equipment, books and thats it. Whats the cheapest way to get it from say Leeds to Sussex. I do not care when it arrives...

1. I could drive it on a one way drive.
2. I could hire removals - way too expensive - cheaper to bin it all.
3. Is there any packing company that will do it?

Thanks

I'd buy a van at the auctions, drive the stuff down, and auction the van when you get there. If the insurance need a commercial purpose to insure the van, tell them it's for gardening services - that's a nice cheap one.

I'm surprised they don't have U-Hauls in the UK like they do in the US - could be a big niche for someone to move into ;)

been driving me nuts!

Moving quotes are almost £1k, but I can rent a van for £50, I just do not understand how they charge so much. So looks like I'll be doing that...its ashame, because I really think there is a gap in the market because I do not care when stuff arrives!

search locally for "man with van" they are everywhere. But usually pikeys so half your stuff will never arrive :)

Checkout www.shiply.com list for free and couriers/haulage companys bid for your job accept whichever one you want.

There is another one i know of but cant for the life of me rember it, where haulage companys bid for jobs on there empty legs, if i find it ill get back to yah.
